![]() ![]() Of course it would be better to just use TV-out and hook up the PC to a CRT TV to get the closest to authentic visuals, but both TV-out and CRT are pretty much dead tech as of a few years ago. Looks very good even on my desktop's 21 inch (or 22 inch? I forgot) widescreen LCD monitor. I found it to be the optimal solution, close enough to what you would see on an actual TV if you had an actual SNES hooked up, while still being upscaled and not pixelated as fuck on an LCD monitor with resolution far superior to that which the SNES did output. It also IMO more or less matches the NTSC filter without the "fuzzyness" or "noise" of a TV screen that makes text unreadable and causing eye-strain (at least for me). bsnes-hd has more hacks that give true HD in mode 7 SNES games and widescreen in other games.īiggest advantage of using 25% scanlines and interpolation over HQ, super eagle or other filters when upscaling is that text and other shapes are accurate without looking too low res. The difference is that official bsnes only has slight visual improvements but with mostly perfect compatibility. Some of the features of this fork are or will be included in official bsnes. With its ability to run on numerous PC operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as home consoles like PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii U, RetroArch offers a comprehensive gaming experience to its users. ![]() Some non-HD related features – Like the ability to disable background layers, sprites and window effects for screenshots for wallpapers or soft crop to zoom in, leaving maps or static art off the sides of the screen. RetroArch is a versatile emulator that has been successfully ported to a wide range of platforms. Works for most Mode 7 scenes, but also for some other scenes/games, after some setting tweaking. Widescreen – Extending the scenes to the left and right, without distorting them. It is a higher resolution version of the process the SNES uses. This does not involve new custom imagery or upscaling algorithms. HD Mode 7 – Rendering the rotated, scaled or pseudo perspective backgrounds at higher resolutions. bin/nestopia /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-P-NAARE/CLV-P-NAARE.Bsnes-hd is a newer fork of bsnes, released in 2019 by DerKoun, that adds HD video features, such as: bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-P-NAARE/CLV-P-NAARE.nes -guest-overscan-dimensions 0,0,9,3 -initial-fadein-durations 3,2 -volume 70 -enable-armet Your game should now run in Nestopia! Here's an example with Balloon Fight. Delete all the other stuff at the end of the command line (everything after the rom name).Change the beginning of the command line to /bin/nestopia.Click on one of the original games in hakchi.Personally, I think it's easier just to hide the original games and add your own versions, but if you really want to play the originals in Nestopia, give this a try: I think this misconception is a combination of how using Retroarch with the original SNES Classic games is a bad idea + the fact that you can't use "select emulation core" with the original games on either system. Looks like someone already addressed how to use the core selector function in hakchi, so that's good.Īlso looks like people have mistakenly told you that you can't play the original 30 games in Nestopia. Even though I specifically avoided downloading the FCEUmm core, Retroarch still somehow opens my games in FCEUmm, which I find utterly baffling. ![]() I only have two mods installed: "Retroarch 181 Xtreme Ozone" and "Nestopia". "-nestopia" still opens the game in FCEUmm and "-core nestopia" crashes.Īs part of my troubleshooting, I erased all of my hmods and redownloaded them from the "new" (to me) KFMD mod hub. Various (possibly outdated) reddit posts have said to append "-nestopia" or "-core nestopia" to the command line. I can't find any official documentation saying to how to override default cores. I can use the global command line setting to append "-retroarch" so that every game opens in Retroarch, but it always uses the FCEUmm core, no matter what I do. Now, I can't seem to get that to work at all. I had it set up so that every game used the Retroarch Nestopia core. (I originally did over a year ago and can't remember exactly what I did.) I ended up have to reflash and reset the kernel to default settings, and now I'm trying to figure out how to get things back the way I want them. I was recently promped by the latest Hakchi version to update the kernel on my NES Classic, and it bricked. ![]()
